Case study
Migrating 13 years of data to PrestaShop 9
I continue to support this long-established e-commerce website following its migration from a proprietary CMS to PrestaShop 9, which preserved years of data and established URLs.
By Mikaël Buxton, SEO and PrestaShop consultant
The starting point
The catalogue had been managed for 13 years in a proprietary CMS. The migration had to recover a large database, retain useful information and protect the website's organic visibility.
My approach
I first audited and normalized the data, then developed imports tailored to the new catalogue structure. I treated legacy URLs as assets to preserve, with a redirect plan and a complete acceptance phase before launch.
- Nearly 10,000 products analyzed, including more than 4,000 active products
- Import of categories, products, variants, features and images
- Legacy URL mapping with 301 redirects
- Import and validation of a selection of historical orders
A controlled launch
After handling acceptance testing and supporting the launch, I continue to provide technical monitoring and address adjustments under real operating conditions.
Results
- Successful migration to PrestaShop 9
- Catalogue and essential data preserved
- Legacy URLs protected through a redirect plan
